AKC NATIONAL OWNER-HANDLED SERIES

The AKC National Owner-Handled Series is a non-titling competition for dogs that are exhibited by their owners that are not

professional handlers.

Exhibitors must declare their dog is Owner-Handled eligible at the time of entry on the entry form.

Dogs entered in the Amateur-Owner-Handler class will automatically be marked as eligible to compete in the NOHS.

Eligible dogs will be identiﬁed by an asterisk in the judge’s book, steward’s book & the catalog. Dogs must be handled throughout the

breed level competition for the regular show by an eligible owner.

Professional handlers*, household members and current assistants** to professional handlers may not exhibit the dog in any NOHS

competition during the entire show. For a detailed description of the National Owner-Handled Series, please visit the AKC website

*Professional handlers are deﬁned as any person who belongs or has belonged to a professional handlers’ organization, distributed

rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay within the last ﬁve years.

**A current assistant is deﬁned as anyone employed by a professional handler on a full-time basis or assisting a professional handler

at the show or any time during the cluster/weekend. Current assistants that are eligible to compete in Junior Showmanship (meet age

& amateur status requirements) may participate in NOHS.

BEST BRED BY EXHIBITOR IN SHOW COMPETITION

The Bluegrass Classic is proud to offer Best Bred by Exhibitor in Show Competitions in honor of our Breeder/Owner/Handlers. Our

Sport would not be what it is without your dedication and hard work in the whelping box.

This competition will be open to the winners of each Bred by Exhibitor class and any dogs in the Best of Breed/Variety competition

shown by their breeder/owner. To be eligible for Bred by Exhibitor the appropriate box on the entry form must be checked

unless the dog or bitch is entered in one of the Bred by Exhibitor classes. Professional handlers MUST be the breeder/owner

of record. During the course of regular judging, the assigned judge will select a Best Bred by Exhibitor in each breed/variety from

the Bred by Exhibitor class winners and eligible Best of Breed entrants. This will be done after Best of Breed/Variety competition

unless the Best Bred by Exhibitor award is automatic. Example: an entry from one of the Bred by Exhibitor classes is awarded Best of

Winners or Best of Breed/Variety. Only dogs/bitches undefeated in a Bred by Exhibitor class are eligible for the Best Bred by Exhibitor

Competition. If the ﬁrst place winner is not present, the second place winner may not compete. Best Bred by Exhibitor Winners will go

on to compete in their respective groups for First through Fourth. The First Place winners of the Bred by Exhibitor Group Competition

will then compete for Best Bred by Exhibitor in Show.

Professional Handlers are eligible to compete PROVIDED they have bred and own the dog they exhibit.

There will be no additional fee for this competition. Dogs must be handled by their breeder/owner.

Junior Handlers who win a third Novice Class with competition present or a ﬁrst place in Novice without competition leading to

a Best Junior award with competition would count as one win towards moving to Open, after the closing of entries for a show,

ARE REQUIRED TO TRANSFER their entry from the Novice Class to the Open Class. MUST NOTIFY the Superintendent/Show

Secretary prior to the judging of the class at the show.

JUNIORS WITH A DOG ALSO ENTERED IN ANOTHER CLASS OFFERED AT THIS SHOW WHO SUBSTITUTE A DOG

NOT ENTERED IN THIS SHOW MUST REMIT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP ONLY AND JUNIOR

SHOWMANSHIP AS AN ADDITIONAL CLASS ENTRY FEE. JUNIORS WHO HAVE ENTERED JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP ONLY

WHO THEN SUBSTITUTE ANOTHER DOG WILL NOT BE CHARGED A FURTHER FEE.

The following breeds must be judged on a Ramp through all levels of conformation competition: Clumber Spaniels, Sussex

Spaniels, Basset Hounds, Cirnechi dell’Etna, Kerry Blue Terriers, Bulldogs, Chinese Shar-Pei, Chow Chows, Keeshonden. Breeds

designated as ramp optional may, at the discretion of the judge, be judged on a ramp through all levels of competition. The full policy

Judges may request the ramp to judge any breed in emergency situations; if granted, unless the use of a ramp has been indicated in

the premium list, an exhibitor has the option of withdrawing their entry and receiving a refund.

Junior Showmanship judges should follow the above.

NO PRACTICING ALLOWED IN RINGS AT ANY TIME.

Dogs May Arrive any time prior to their scheduled time of judging. Dogs not required for further judging will be excused.

Judges Will Not Wait for Any Dog Holding Up a Class. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in

the judging ring when their classes are called to be judged.

All Dogs Present must be held on leash or conﬁned to their crates except when being judged or when in the exercising ring.

No gasoline or diesel generators are permitted inside any building or within 100 feet of any tent in which this dog show is conducted.

As speciﬁed in Chapter 12, Section 4 of the AKC Rules Applying to Dog Shows, information contained on the entry form is required

to be published in the club’s show catalog. This information is also subject to publication in other media.

Entry Fees shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualiﬁed, excused by Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from

competition by action of the event's Show Committee. If because of riots, wars, strikes, civil disturbances, national emergencies, health

emergencies, and the dictates of law enforcement or of the owner(s) of the grounds and/or facilities or other acts beyond the control

of the management it is impossible to open or to complete the show, no refund of entry fee will be made. Extreme weather conditions,

such as, but not limited to, snow storms, hurricanes, lightning, extreme heat, heavy rains, or other circumstances including, but not

limited to, the condition of the facilities or grounds and/or the ingress and egress from the grounds, must be considered for the health

and safety of the dogs, exhibitors and spectators. The well-being of dogs, exhibitors and spectators is of paramount importance and,

in the event it is necessary to cancel or stop the show before completion, no refund of entry fee will be made.

TRANSFERS OF DOGS IN OBEDIENCE/RALLY CLASSES (Ch. 1 Section 16 of Obedience Regulations) The request

for transfers must be in writing and presented to the Superintendent/Trial Secretary at least 30 minutes prior to the

start of each trial. Transfers for Obedience may be approved, provided the next level class and judge are available

and the class has not reached its limit.

This is a recorded event by the AKC for the Certiﬁcate of Merit and Puppy of Achievement certiﬁcates.

Section 1 - Classiﬁcations

The Four-to-Six Month Puppy competition shall be for dogs that are four months of age and over, but under six months on the ﬁrst

day of the event. Classes will be offered for breed and varieties and divided into Groups as described in Chapter 3, Section 1 of

the Rules Applying to Dog Shows and the Miscellaneous Class breeds as listed in Chapter 3, Section 23. The Miscellaneous class

competition will be the equivalent of Group competition and the winner will be eligible to compete in Best Four-to-Six Month Puppy in

Show. The FSS competition will be the equivalent of Group competition and the winner will be eligible to compete in Best Four-to-Six

Month Puppy in Show.

The Bluegrass Classic Cluster & the Lexington Kennel Club, Inc. are happy to bring back; THE ITTY BITTY PLUSH

DOG CLASS on Saturday, September 2nd, for all new dog show exhibitors ﬁve (5) years of age and under. Please

feel free to bring your own special PLUSH dog and lead or the Cluster will have PLUSH dogs available at ringside

ready for a youngster to show off their handling skills! Participation ribbons will be awarded to all. You must register at

the Announcer’s Stand by 10:30 A.M. The ring time and ring number will be announced or stop by the Announcer’s

Stand for further details. Parents or other supervising adult must be present at ringside.

n For kids from 5 to 9 years of age (with a parent or guardian)

n Dog must be at least four (4) months of age to enter

n All dogs must have proper lead and collar

n $10.00 per child entry fee

The Pee Wee Event is for children from the ages of 5 to under 9 years of age. Each Pee Wee class consists of the child

and a responsible adult which must be in the ring with the Pee Wee. The dog must be at least 4 months of age and have

the proper lead and collar. At an All-Breed event, all AKC fully recognized and Miscellaneous Class breeds are allowed to

enter, including dogs with a PAL listing. In addition, FSS breeds and All-American dogs may be allowed at the discretion of

the Club. The responsible adult is responsible for the control of the dog outside the ring. Clubs must provide an additional

lead if the mentor inside the ring feels that it is necessary for the safety of the dog and the Pee Wee. A Release of Liability

must be completed before the Pee Wee may enter the Pee Wee Event. For more information on the Pee Wee Event, please

All participants & their families are invited to enjoy pizza at the end of the event.

do not need a junior showmanship number to participate, but please provide the name and date of birth of the Pee Wee Handler on

the back of the entry form.

THE SHOW SITE will be available from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday. On show days, the site is available at 6:00 A.M. The

building closes at 10:00 P.M.; doors will be locked and security on-site at 11:00 P.M. daily.

Vehicles will be permitted 15 minutes to unload at grooming doors with ﬂashers on and then must be moved to parking area.

FREE CONCOURSE GROOMING is available on a ﬁrst come basis. NO roping off or saving unused grooming space. Crates must be

stacked and no exercise pens allowed in grooming space. The event committee reserves the right to remove or rearrange equipment

of those exhibitors who do not follow these rules. Breeds holding specialties, sweepstakes and supported entries can purchase a

grooming area on the concourse area if desired.

OUTDOOR EXERCISE PENS allowed but NOT within 50 feet of any doorway and only in grassy areas.

RINGSIDE CRATING ALLOWED ONLY DURING BREED JUDGING. Crates MUST be removed IMMEDIATELY after breed judging.

The Classic Committee reserves the right to remove crates.

DOG WASHING FACILITIES provided outside upper level.

PARKING & FEES - The Kentucky Horse Park will charge Event Parking fees. The Bluegrass Classic does not beneﬁt, nor does it

have any control over what the KHP charges. Fees are $6.00 per day or an Event Pass for $18.00 purchased at the entrance gate.

There will be no charges from the Bluegrass Classic.

PLEASE PLAN TO ARRIVE EARLY to avoid trafﬁc at the Horse Park main gate. There are other events being held in the Kentucky

Horse park during the Bluegrass Classic this year.

SAVING PARKING SPACES IS NOT ALLOWED - No parking spaces may be saved with cones or by any other method.

BOUNCED CHECKS: There is a $50.00 fee for NSF/bounced checks. We will not accept checks from offenders for future shows until

payment in full, including the $50.00 bad check fee, is made.
