Learn the basic skills required to perform jobs as an Automotive Technician, Automotive Service
Writer, and Automotive Parts Department Representative.
Course Description
• 1200 program hours covering all areas related to vehicle maintenance and repair. Participants will receive 31 industry recognized
credentials pertaining to Steering and Suspension, Brakes, Electrical/Electrical Systems,
Heating and Air Conditioning, and Hybrid maintenance. Participants will also be
prepared for ASE certications.
• The course includes a combination of theoretical concepts (classroom), hands-on
training (shop), internship (experimental learning), and life skills/job readiness
workshops.
Program Location
Training will take place at New Community Workforce Development Center’s state-of-the-
art Automotive Training Facility, 210 West Bigelow Street, Newark, NJ 07108
Program Hours
Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Program Requirements
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Have a high school diploma
• Have a valid driver’s license
• Take a basic skills entrance exam
