Overview
Dr. Meherwan P. Boyce, PhD, P.E., C.Eng (UK) has 47 years of experience in the field of turbomachinery in
both industry and academia. Currently he is the managing Partner of The Boyce Consultancy Group, LLC. His
industrial experience covers 20 years as Chairman and CEO of Boyce Engineering International Inc., founder of
Cogen Technologies Inc., and five years as a designer of compressors and turbines for gas turbines for various
gas turbine manufacturers.
Dr. Boyce’s industrial consulting experience covers a wide range of subjects within the aerospace, public utility,
power generation, offshore, manufacturing, turbomachinery, and petrochemical industries. Dr. Boyce has
successfully overseen high-profile project development and engineering projects throughout the world including
design consulting on compressors and gas and steam turbines for manufacturers such as Dresser Rand, GE,
Thomassen, United Technologies, Rolls Royce, and Volvo. Dr. Boyce has a depth of knowledge in heavy fuels
combustion and performance evaluation of combined cycle power plants.
Dr. Boyce was the pioneer of On-Line Condition Based Performance Monitoring. He has developed models for
various types of power plants and petrochemical complexes. His programs are used around the world in
offshore platforms and manufacturing facilities.
Academic Experience
Dr. Boyce’s academic experience covers a 15 year period, including the position of Professor of Mechanical
Engineering at Texas A&M University and Founder of the TurboMachinery Laboratories and The
TurboMachinery Symposium, now in its 30th year.
Books Authored
Dr. Boyce is the author of the Gas Turbine Engineering Handbook, Handbook for Cogeneration &
Combined Cycle Power Plants, and Centrifugal Compressors, A Basic Guide. He is a contributor to
several Handbooks in the areas of transport and storage of fluids, and gas turbines. Additionally, he has
authored more than 150 technical papers and reports on gas turbines, compressors pumps, fluid mechanics,
and turbomachinery.
Lectures/Presentations
Dr. Boyce has taught over 100 short courses around the world attended by over 3000 students representing
over 400 companies. He is a much-requested speaker at universities and conferences throughout the world.
