Free walk-in clinic, staffed by attorneys, that provides
either general legal information or limited legal advice
in family law disputes involving divorce, custody,
visitation, guardianship, and child support. Assists
individuals who want to represent themselves in
SIMPLE family matters only.

Volunteer private practice attorneys are solicited by
the Program to provide free legal guidance and/or
representation in the areas of absolute divorce,
custody, name changes, adoption/guardianship,
landlord tenant law, bankruptcy/debt collection
matters, wills and powers of attorney, and in limited
circumstances immigration and employment cases.
Not equipped to handle emergency cases,
modifications, or appeals. $25.00 processing fee.
Pro Bono Legal Advice Clinics: Residents are
served a first-come first-serve basis due to limited
staffing. You must sign-in at each location during the
first half hour of service to speak to an attorney that
evening. Any residents needing specialized services or
accommodations should contact the Pro Bono Office
in advance.

Free or low-cost legal representation in civil matters to
Marylanders with limited income. Each eligible client is
matched with a volunteer lawyer who has the
appropriate skills and expertise to provide quality
representation. Accept the family cases: family
(divorce, custody, adoption, guardianship - adult and
child, name changes/birth certificate corrections,
unaccompanised youth project); housing
(landlord/tenant disputes, foreclosure and tax sale,
deed changes, ground rent, other property issues);
consumer (bankruptcy chapter 7, collections,
contract and other consumer disputes); and other
(expungement/shielding/vacatur, income tax disputes,
estate planning and administration small estates,
uninsured motorist tort, non-profit organizations).

Law students practice under supervision of law school
faculty and provide legal representation to low-income
clients in family law matters before district, circuit and
appellate courts. Child custody, child support, divorce
and protection from domestic violence. Clinic does not
have any type of "walk-in" consultation facilities, and
they do not give legal advice over the phone. Since
attorneys are also students, their availability for
assistance is dependent on the academic calendar.
JustAdvice® Project

Hosts two three-hour sessions each week at various
locations. Customers receive up to 30 minutes with an
experienced attorney to discuss their legal issue.
During this meeting, customers can gain a better
understanding of the legal issues they face and
receive advice on how to proceed in order to resolve
those issues. The JustAdvice® Project will assist with
family law, housing, criminal, employment,
expungement, insurance, SSI, tax, elder law cases.
Besides providing legal advice, the JustAdvice®
Project can also help with expungement of court
records for only the cost of court filings.
