PROGRAM COORDINATOR JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Profile
The Girls on the Run® Program Coordinator (PC) must possess a passion for and commitment to improving the lives
and opportunities of girls in third through eighth grades. The Program Coordinator reports to the GOTR Long
Island Council Director and will coordinate the Girls on the Run programs and volunteers. Key responsibilities
include:
Program Outreach and Site Management
Coordinate all new and existing sites in order to achieve program goals and organizational growth
Market Girls on the Run program to potential new sites
Work with community leaders, schools and other groups to maximize Girls on the Run success
Coach Management and Training
Coordinate the recruitment, placement, training and evaluation of volunteer coaches
Prepare materials for Girls on the Run Coach Training and work with Facilitators to execute training sessions
Provide consistent pre- and in-season support to coaches via email, phone and in-person visits
Curriculum/Equipment Management
Manage acquisition, organization and distribution of curricula, materials and supplies for program sites and 5k
event each season
Required Qualifications
Passion for Girls on the Run mission and the ability to comprehend and effectively communicate issues
surrounding empowerment, self-esteem, body image and whole-person health.
Technological proficiency to navigate an array of web-based software platforms
Outstanding communication skills in multiple environments and with a range of audiences
Ability to multitask, prioritize and make efficient decisions
Availability during program session times (Mon-Fri 3:00-6:00pm) to coordinate and conduct site visits
Reliable transportation (Program Coordinator will be visiting sites across Long Island)
Preferred Qualifications
BA or BS degree
Experience with Girls on the Run (or other similar youth, wellness, or other nonprofit programs)
Connections to the local community
The position is a part-time/30 hour work week with an annual salary of $28,080. GOTR Long Island does not offer
health benefits. This position is based at GOTR Long Island's office in Eisenhower Park, East Meadow. Please

The Girls on the Run program provides a safe and interactive way to learn about healthy living which includes an
introduction and education on important topics such as goal-setting, cooperation, healthy decision-making, and
self-respect, while training for a 5K event. The innovative curriculum teaches girls to listen and open up while also
encouraging them to commit to a healthy lifestyle, and harness the inner strength that they possess. Our
important mission is accomplished by giving girls the tools to make positive choices for a healthy body and mind,
while reducing the many risks they face today.
